Local health officials say the Ohio State University mumps outbreak continues to afflict more students.
Concerts @ WOSU = Great for local arts
WOSU FM 89.7, along with our four other FM stations covering communities across Ohio, continue to air an amazing array of local concerts. Here’s a snapshot.
• Christopher Purdy will produce 40 new Music in Mid-Ohio (MIMO) programs with concert excerpts from throughout our listening area including in the past month from New Albany Symphony, Chamber Music Columbus, and the Capital University Chapel Choir. MIMO airs on WOSU FM Sundays at 6pm. As you sit down for dinner, give MIMO a listen.
• We’ll air a dozen of what we call Concerts@Ohio State this year with student and faculty groups from OSU. These will start airing Sunday afternoons at 3pm in January.
• We’ll have 16 “live” concert broadcasts from the Ohio and Southern Theatres with the Columbus Symphony and Columbus Jazz Orchestra plus many others we’ll record for delayed broadcast.
Add everything up and we’re talking as many as 100 local concerts with music ranging from Classical to Celtic to Jazz, providing wonderful exposure for the often struggling local performing arts organizations across central Ohio.
These performances on WOSU reflect the diversity and depth of the concert opportunities in our community, and we’re very pleased to continue to be the only radio outlet providing this service. You should know we produce every concert with minimal external funding. It’s your individual member contributions that make these efforts possible.
Please tune in as WOSU FM will bring you a “live” concert on Sunday, December 6, at 3pm with Christopher Purdy heading downtown to the impressive St. Joseph’s Cathedral. Listen to Lessons and Carols from St. Joseph’s Cathedral to kick off the holiday season.
