With the help of votes from Central Ohio delegates, leaders of the Boy Scouts of America have voted to allow openly gay boys for the first time. Simon Kenton Council spokeswoman, Jen Koma, says local leaders were given guidance prior to the vote.
Bicentennial Pavilion Opens at Columbus Commons
The christening of the new pavilion at the Columbus Commons downtown included a nice lunch for perhaps 150 on stage sponsored by the Columbus Foundation. I think our table was approximately where the tattoo parlor was in the demolished City Center Mall. But what a transformation of space from the claustrophobic mall to open space that is welcoming and beautiful. As a member of the Jazz Board, I’m especially thrilled that the first official concert at the Commons will be singer-songwriter Michael McDonald (formerly of The Doobie Brothers and Steely Dan) and the Columbus Jazz Orchestra. And it’s FREE. May 24, Thursday night with gates opening at 6 and the CJO starting the night at 7 pm. See you there!
