The christening of the new pavilion at the Columbus Commons downtown included a nice lunch for perhaps 150 on stage sponsored by the Columbus Foundation. I think our table was approximately where the tattoo parlor was in the demolished City Center Mall. But what a transformation of space from the claustrophobic mall to open space that is welcoming and beautiful. As a member of the Jazz Board, I’m especially thrilled that the first official concert at the Commons will be singer-songwriter Michael McDonald (formerly of The Doobie Brothers and Steely Dan) and the Columbus Jazz Orchestra. And it’s FREE. May 24, Thursday night with gates opening at 6 and the CJO starting the night at 7 pm. See you there!
