We start off this week on with a vintage visit to Columbus from Antiques Roadshow. Â Antiques Roadshow visited ColumbusÂ back in 1999 and since that time some of the originally appraised items have soared in value while others have not fared as well. Â You’ll have to tune in tonight to discover the winners and losers in the game of antiques. Â Then at 10pm it’s part two of Cuba’s Secret Side. Â In tonight’s episode the filmmakerÂ looks at the Cuban people, beyond the politics and propaganda.
On Time ScannersÂ cutting-edge 3D laser-scanning technology is used to put some of history’s buildings to the test to find out just how good the engineers of the ancient world really were. Tuesday’s episode starts with a close up look at the Egyptian Pyramids. History Detectives: Special Investigations spends the hour examining the explosion aboard theÂ Mississippi steamboat USS Sultana. Â The sinking of the USS Sultana in 1865, with a loss of life over 1,500, was one of the worst maritime naval disasters in U.S. history.
On Friday it’s A Capital Fourth our annual concert, this year celebrating America’s 238th birthday.Â Tom Bergeron is back as host with an all-star line-up that includes, Frankie Valli, Patti LaBelle, Michael McDonald, John Williams, Kermit the Frog and Miss Piggy. Â This annual broadcast of A Capital Fourth also gives viewers the most spectacular fireworks display any where in the nation. The celebration starts Friday night July 4th at 8pm.
We wrap up the week with Masterpiece Mystery: Inspector Lewis on the Saturday night’s 10pm mystery. We’ll start with season 3 of the Inspector Lewis series. In “The Dead of Winter” Â the discovery of a body on an Oxford bus leads Lewis and Hathaway to a sprawling Oxford estate where Hathaway spent much of his childhood.
