Negotiations in the four-day old Reynoldsburg teacher’s strike are scheduled to resume this week-end. Both the board and teacher union representatives have agreed to meet again with a federal mediator on Sunday to try to reach a contract agreement. The resumption of talks occurs against the backdrop of strong community pressure.
Nazi Mega Weapons
On Wednesday evening WOSU TV begins a 3 part documentary series titled NAZI MEGA WEAPONS. Most students of history are familiar with the Nazi push to develop new technology for their military hardware. It was an important piece of their war strategy, out-build and out-engineer the enemy. In this quest, the Nazi’s built some of the biggest and deadliest weapons of the time.
As Hitler’s grip on Europe tightened, he ordered men like Wernher Von Braun, Ferdinand Porsche and Alfried Krupp to build increasingly outlandish machines and structures to realize his master plan. This new series uncovers the engineering secrets of three iconic mega structures, the Atlantic Wall, the U-Boat Base and the V2 Rocket.
In the first episode, The Atlantic Wall, Hitler needed to protect occupied Europe from an Allied Invasion.  He demanded the construction of a defensive wall stretching thousands of miles from France in the south to Norway in the north. This vast engineering project sucked in huge quantities of raw materials and men from all over the Third Reich. If you’ve ever had the opportunity to visit the Normandy coastline in France you’ve seen what remains of this defensive wall which faced its ultimate test on D-Day.
NAZI MEGA WEAPONS begins Wednesday July 17 at 10pm on WOSU TV and concludes on Wednesday, July 31. Encore presentations of the series can be seen on Thursday nights at 10pm on WOSU PLUS beginning July 18.
