Ice Age Death Trap

My family spent just about every summer vacation in Michigan’s upper peninsula.  I remember one summer in particular collecting pieces of rocks covered in fossils.  I thought I’d discovered something really special and kept those rocks for years.  I think there are some wonders of childhood that stay with us.  I would dare to say most of us are still just a bit fascinated by the large dinosaur skeletons we see in museums all over the world.  If it wasn’t an interesting subject matter the Jurassic Park movies would have stopped at just one.

Nova: Ice Age Death Trap” works with archaeologists in Colorado as they work to uncover a unique site packed with astonishingly preserved bones of mammoths, mastodons and other giant extinct beasts.  The scientists see this as opening a window on the vanished world of the Ice Age, the developers outlook is different.

Nova: Ice Age Death Trap” airs Wednesday, February 1 at 9:00pm on WOSU TV with an encore presentation Thursday, February 2 at 9:00pm on WOSU PLUS.
