Getting Ready For Thanksgiving
Thanksgiving will be at my house this year. Which means I will spend this weekend searching for family recipes, new recipes and coming up with just the right Thanksgiving table decor. My mind is already beginning to wander. If your searching for ideas or just want to get in the holiday mood you need to tune in to WOSU TV at 3:00pm Sunday for an afternoon full of Thanksgiving specials.
We’ll start in Vermont with Christopher Kimball and the gang from AMERICA’S TEST KITCHEN and COOK’S COUNTRY. Bridget Lancaster uncovers the secrets to slow roasted turkey with gravy and shows us how to get the perfect pie.
One of my colleagues does deep fried turkey every year. They’re apparently so good he now does them for friends and neighbors. I suspect the preparations will begin this weekend. If you’re into the outdoor turkey cooking, BARBECUE UNIVERSITY WITH STEVE RAICHLEN tackles turkey on the grill. Giving it the full maple treatment with a maple syrup brine and a Maple Syrup Redeye Gravy.
What would a special turkey afternoon be without the infamous turduckin and there’s even a couple of holiday vegetarian options for you to explore. The whole day wraps up with HEIRLOOM MEALS’ THANKSGIVING. The one-hour special connects folks with their own memories of Thanksgiving with tried-and-true recipes and family dining traditions.
I hope you’ll take some time this Sunday to get in the holiday mood. If you’re busy shopping set your DVR to watch later for some last minute ideas.
