For the hungry in some Columbus neighborhoods, emergency food supplies will be only a text away. The city will spend $135,000 to help to create a mobile scheduling program for selected food pantries.
Chefs in the City
Last week I blogged about our Chefs in the City event. The day started off a little crazy when our celebrity chef, Jacques Pepin, ran into a little difficulty with his airline travel. Thanks to everyone’s patience and some fast work by WOSU’s Chefs in the City committee we were back on track by the time the evenings event began.
I have to say, it takes a lot of hard work and great organizational skills to pull off this event every year. But we’re fortunate to have such wonderful support for Chefs in the City in the community. We have great restaurants here in Columbus and our own local celebrity chefs come through every year to help make Chefs in the City the great event it is.
We will air CHEFS IN THE CITY 2011 on WOSU TV Saturday, April 30 at 1pm with a repeat on WOSU PLUS Saturday, April 30 at 8pm. I wish you could feel the excitement in the room when you watch the program. Our production staff does a good job putting together a top rate show for you to enjoy, but I think it’s sometimes hard to translate the overall feel of the evening into the program.
In addition to watching Chef Pepin prepare two great dishes, the scallops were my favorite, six local celebrity chefs prepare their special dishes for you to view. Wait till you see what Jeni Britton Bauer, from Jeni’s Splendid Ice Creams, does for dessert!
