Calling All Masterpiece Mystery Fans
If you’re a regular viewer of Masterpiece Mystery then you know your program gets put on hold every year for a couple of weeks in August due to our annual membership drive. However because our Mystery folks are such loyal viewers we’re going to try something a little different this August.
Masterpiece Mystery Sherlock premiered in the fall of 2010. There was some concern that true Sherlock Holmes fans may not like this new modern day Sherlock. I remember seeing a preview for it in the spring of 2010, and couldn’t wait for the series to air. Turned out all the concern was misplaced, Sherlock was a hit with the audience!
So here’s the deal, on Sunday, August 7th at 8pm on WOSU TV we’ll have a special challenge for you. We will air Masterpiece Mystery Sherlock: The Great Game, the episode in which we first meet the new Moriarty. During the broadcast we will be asking viewers to support Masterpiece on WOSU. To celebrate the 40th Anniversary of Masterpiece being on PBS we’d like to raise $40,000 in support. If we’re able to raise our goal amount for Masterpiece by the end of our August pledge drive, we’ll air Masterpiece Mystery, uninterrupted and in its normal time slot of Sunday evening, during our December pledge drive. As a bonus for your support, you get to be the programmer for those episodes in December. We’ll give you the chance to vote from a list of favorite Masterpiece Mystery episodes! The top two viewer favorites will air during our December membership drive.
Masterpiece is a great series we know you enjoy. That’s why we’re putting this effort into giving it extra support during it’s 40th Anniversary year.
