Brazil with Michael Palin on the Sunday Showcase

Over the next few weeks the  eyes of the world will be focused on the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil.  Brazil will also be hosting the Summer Olympics in 2016.  This week on Sunday Showcase, WOSU TV takes a look at the country and its people on the program Brazil with Michael Palin.

Brazil is the fifth largest country in the world and is considered a rising global power. Brazil’s population is made up of an eclectic mix of races and religions, wealthy and poor. The country spans over half of South America, and large parts of the country still rest as unexplored wilderness – think of the Amazon.

In this series Michael Palin visits Brazil, for the very first time, traveling from the lost world of Amazonia to the metropolis of Rio de Janeiro. In this episode,  Palin explores the places and many different people who’s stories help shape today’s Brazil. The adventure begins this Sunday, June 15 at 1pm on WOSU TV .
