Begin The Holiday Season With WOSU TV

It’s beginning to look a lot like… Thanksgiving?  The cold and snow outside is perfect for the warmth of the holiday celebration inside and WOSU TV has lots of specials to help get you in the spirit.

One of my favorite Christmas shows is RICK STEVES’ EUROPEAN CHRISTMAS.  This Saturday at 3:30pm Steves takes us on a tour of Europe as each country celebrates local holiday traditions.  The sleigh ride in Switzerland is beautiful.  We follow EUROPEAN CHRISTMAS with a brand new special from the Lawrence Welk Musical Family, LAWRENCE WELK HOLIDAY SPECIAL: GREAT MOMENTS AND MEMORIES.  Norma Zimmer and other stars showcase the great moments from 30 years of Christmas holiday shows. This great special also includes performances by the children of the Welk Musical Family.  At 8pm it’s the premiere of CELTIC WOMAN: HOME FOR CHRISTMAS.  Join your favorite Celtic group as they perform holiday favorites like “Silent Night and “Joy To The World”.

For those of who like to rock Brit Floyd is back with a new special, BRIT FLOYD LIVE AT RED ROCKS. Live at Red Rocks is Brit Floyd’s biggest show yet, featuring performances of five full album sides, including “Wish You Were Here”, “The Wall” and Pink Floyd’s classic defining album, “The Dark Side of the Moon”.  If Brit Floyd is not your style,  join us on Sunday for ROCK, POP AND DOO WOP. Jon “Bowzer” Bauman and Ronnie Spector bring back the best pop songs from the late 1950s and 1960s.  A great weekend of music specials!

Finally if you’re having a difficult time waiting the season four premiere of MASTERPIECE CLASSIC: DOWNTON ABBEY join us on Sunday night at 9pm for RETURN TO DOWNTON ABBEY.  Susan Sarandon hosts a look back at the first three season of DOWNTON ABBEY and looks ahead to the upcoming fourth season with special previews.  If you’re a DOWNTON ABBEY fan this is a must watch program!

I hope you’ll enjoy all of these great specials on WOSU TV as we kick off the holiday season.
