Every neighborhood has its stereotypes, and a lot of them are based on income. Everyone wants to know what their neighbors are making. Well, using census data, WNYC has mapped out median income by area for the entire United States.
A Look Ahead
I’m faced with the dreaded blank page today. I know I need to update my blog but I keep finding something else to do instead. I usually don’t have a problem giving you a little insight on great programs you shouldn’t miss this week, but when we’re in our membership drive it’s a little more difficult to make sure I don’t keep saying the same thing, we need your support. I finally decided I would look ahead and fill you in on some new programs coming in April.
Raise your hand if you’ve heard 2011 is the 150th anniversary of the start of the Civil War. What better way to commemorate this historic time marker than with the rebroadcast of THE CIVIL WAR by Ken Burns.
The Civil War begins Sunday, April 3 on WOSU TV.
I’ve seen this series several times over the years but it’s like TOP GUN for me, every time it comes on I have to watch it. This is truly Ken Burns at his best, you won’t find another Civil War documentary that captures the emotion and reality of the time like Burns does in this program.
It’s time to once again visit 165 Eaton Place and find out what’s going on UPSTAIRS and DOWNSTAIRS. If you remember the classic 1970′s series UPSTAIRS DOWNSTAIRS you’ll be happy to know Jean Marsh returns as Rose. If you’re like me and don’t remember the original, all I can say is, if you enjoyed DOWNTON ABBEY, you’ll really love this!
Masterpiece Classic: Upstairs Downstairs begins Sunday, April 10 on WOSU TV.
I had to throw in a few specials to commemorate the Royal Wedding, I mean we are PBS after all. Look for EDWARD AND WALLIS: A ROYAL LOVE STORY, HENRY: MIND OF A TYRANT and WILLIAM AND KATE: A ROYAL WEDDING to air throughout the month of April leading up to the big day.
Henry: Mind of a Tyrant
Finally, we premiere the third program in our six part Columbus Neighborhoods series. COLUMBUS NEIGHBORHOODS: KING LINCOLN will air Tuesday, April 19 at 9pm. If you’ve enjoyed SHORT NORTH and GERMAN VILLAGE, you’ll really enjoy the rich history of the KING LINCOLN neighborhood.
There are many more great programs coming in April, I just touched on a few. So as you enjoy our programs during the March membership drive, you can look forward to all the wonderful programs we’re able to provide for you in April because of your support!
