So begins the FRONTLINE documentary, The Long Walk of Nelson Mandela, airing as a special tonight (Friday) at 9 pm on WOSU TV. Nelson Mandela, former South African president and anti-apartheid hero, died at home yesterday at the age of 95. He will be laid to rest at his ancestral village in the Eastern Cap on December 15th. A week of national mourning will include an open-air memorial service at Johannesburg’s Soccer City stadium on December 10th.
The Long Walk of Nelson Mandela is a powerful two hour documentary – an intimate portrait of one of the 20th century’s greatest leaders, offered by PBS and’ FRONTLINE and scheduled by WOSU TV in place of regular programming tonight.
