I know, Surge Columbus sounds like a new local soccer or rugby team, but its even better –Battelle has announced major funding for this collaborative project connecting area teenagers with tremendous creative opportunities at five major cultural nonprofits in Columbus — including WOSU Public Media!

The concept has been planned over the past 18 months as the partners have focused on building this innovative model for after school programming for teens including access to the latest digital technology, mentoring teens to create new products and, in the case of WOSU, assisting teens with digital storytelling and experimenting with images and sound to create media within the Ross mediaLab at WOSU@COSI.

The other partners in this project aside from WOSU Public Media include the Columbus Metropolitan Library, Columbus Museum of Art, COSI, and the Wexner Center for the Arts. We’re thrilled to work with these great institutions.  Look for more and plan to involve YOUR teenager in the project. The Surge Columbus Blog is a great way to get info and keep up with the project.
