Just weeks from the national broadcast of a FRONTLINE program on PBS, ESPN has ended its association with the program – a two-part documentary about concussions in the NFL. This has been over a year-long collaboration that now ends, interestingly, as the FRONTLINE team was about to share a rough cut of the program with ESPN.
The New York Times reported on the dissolution of the partnership today. Though ESPN denies it, the move may have been prompted by pressure from the NFL. The NFL has made clear they are not supportive of the documentary and the NFL Commissioner and executives refused to be interviewed for the series.
This will be an important two-part documentary and we encourage you to jot down the evenings of October 8 and 15 for the broadcasts on WOSU TV.
