Ohio is celebrating its 212th birthday with special events at the Ohio Statehouse in Columbus.
A man who locked a woman in the trunk of her car and then lit it on fire while she was alive has just lost an appeal for mercy from the governor. That means the execution of Daniel Wilson remains scheduled for Wednesday morning. Statehouse correspondent Bill Cohen reports.
Lobbyist Jack Abramoff on Tuesday pleaded guilty to trying to bribe Ohio Congressman Bob Ney with, among other things, a trip to Scotland. Also on Tuesday the head of the state Democratic Party called on Ney to resign his committee chairmanship. In spite of growing negative publicity, WOSU’s Sam Hendren reports Ney remains popular in his eastern Ohio district.
