Family members confirm Marine Lance Cpl. Josh Taylor of Marietta was among those killed when a mortar exploded during a mountain warfare training exercise in Nevada Monday.

The exhibit honoring the Columbus-based Marine unit that saw heavy casualties in Iraq includes boots and dog tags of the fallen Marines and paintings by a Columbus artist.

Many of the thousands of companies that allow the U.S. to go to war will gather in Columbus this week for a conference hosted by the National Defense Industrial Association.

People of all ages lined the streets of downtown Columbus today to watch the annual Veterans’ Day Parade. The mood of the parade, while patriotic, was rather somber as many were there to pay their respects to the men and women who serve the nation’s armed forces.

A Marine reserve unit from Columbus which took heavy casulties in Iraq is enroute back to the U-S. Lima Company, 3rd Battalion, 25th Marines is scheduled to arrive at Camp LeJeune on Friday.

A community-wide memorial service is planned tonight in the Cleveland area for Iraq war casualties from the Brook Park Marine Corps Reserve Center.
