A Texas company plans to acquire a controlling stake in one of Central Ohio’s most well-known companies that’s seen sales and employment dip significantly over the past decade.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol has imposed new rules regarding social media posts by its troopers. The move came after a trooper posted suggestive pictures of herself in uniform on her Facebook page.To curtail embarrassment, more and more businesses and organizations are implementing social media guidelines for their workers.

Newark based Longaberger Baskets says poor economic conditions are forcing the company to lay off 275 workers.

Two more Central Ohio businesses join the list of companies to lay off workers in an effort to cut expenses. Limited Brands and The Longaberger Company announced almost 700 layoffs combined.

The Longaberger basket company now says it will lay off nearly 800 workers next month.

The Longaberger Company said Tuesday it is notifying 970 workers that they might be laid off in September if sales don’t increase.
