Friday is the final day of classes for the fall quarter at Ohio State. In a few years it could be the end of the fall semester. Governor Ted Strickland wants to more closely coordinate the offerings of the state’s public colleges and universities. That includes changing the few remaining institutions that use the quarter system to a semester-based academic calendar.

After being gone from the state for a decade Gordon Gee returns to Ohio State as the university’s fourteenth president. Gee was re-introduced Thursday afternoon following a unanimous vote from OSU’s board of trustees.
Ohio State names interim president
The Ohio State University Board of Trustees named Joseph Alutto to serve as interim president. Karen Holbrook’s term will end next Saturday. Alutto will assume responsibilites as university officials continue their search for a new president.
