The Ohio Supreme Court has scheduled a February hearing in the more than four-year-old case of a public school science teacher who was fired for preaching religious beliefs and failing to comply with district orders.

In a tense state school board meeting yesterday members voted to eliminate language in the state’s science standards that critics say opens the door to teaching intelligent design.
