Franklin County Prosecutor Ron O’Brien announced the indictments Monday in Columbus.

O’Brien said the organization was bringing drugs with a street value of between $10,000 and $20,000 to the state every week for at least two years.

The alleged ringleader, 29-year Michael Berry, and 13 members of the organization were arrested Nov. 17. Authorities seized 17 guns, including 3 assault rifles, a bullet-proof vest, more than $8,000 in cash and 900 pills with a street value of $27,000.

Arraignments were expected later Monday in court in Columbus. Attorney information for Berry was not available.

Ahmad Fares pleaded guilty in September to possession of drugs and other charges. The 27-year-old was sentenced Wednesday in Mansfield.

The charges stemmed from the seizure of 5,300 containers of bath salts with a street value of $212,000. Before bath salts were banned, Fares sold them at his drive-through business.

Fares apologized to the community and his family in court.

Bath salts are crystalized chemicals that are snorted, swallowed or smoked. They can cause paranoia and hallucination, and their use has led to hundreds of calls to poison centers nationwide. Ohio lawmakers made them illegal in 2011.
