Advocates for passenger rail service in Columbus are backing a proposal to start Columbus to Chicago service through Lima and Fort Wayne, Indiana. Backers envision 110 mile per hour passenger trains would run daily from Columbus to Chicago and back.

Restoring passenger rail service to Ohio is bound to be a big issue in the campaign for governor. The Ohio Department of Transportation is now conducting additional studies on the feasibility of running Amtrak trains from Cincinnati to Columbus to Cleveland. WOSU Commentator Stacia Kock says there is one argument for rail service that politicians should sleep on.
