Final Inman Trial Underway In Chillicothe

Testimony is under way in the trial of the third family member charged in the murder of a young Hocking County woman nearly two years ago.

William Inman is on trial in Chillicothe for the March 2011 murder of his daughter-in-law Summer Inman. William Inman’s wife Sandra Inman and his son William Inman II have already been convicted and sentenced for their purported roles.

Summer Inman was found bound and strangled in an underground septic tank days after she went missing in downtown Logan. Police say Sandra Inman led them to the body as part of a plea deal.

William Inman’s trial was moved to Chillicothe after a judge ruled it would be impossible for him to get a fair trial in Logan.

Mother-In-Law Pleads Guilty In Septic Tank Murder

A mother-in-law of a southeast Ohio woman found strangled in a septic tank has pleaded guilty to all charges related to her daughter-in-law’s death.

A Hocking County prosecutor says attorneys reached a plea deal with Sandra Inman, who had pointed authorities to her daughter-in-law’s body.

The 47-year-old Inman pleaded guilty Thursday to charges of murder, kidnapping, tampering with evidence and gross abuse of a corpse. She was sentenced to 15 years to life in prison.

Jury Recommends Life In Prison For Hocking County Killer

An attorney for a man convicted in the slaying of his estranged wife and the discovery of her body in a southeast Ohio septic tank says it’s obvious the jury paid close attention to the evidence and what the law is in recommending a life sentence.

Attorney Herman Carson says the jurors took their obligation seriously and came to an appropriate conclusion.

The Hocking County jury on Thursday recommended a life sentence with no chance of parole for 27-year-old William Inman II, who had faced the possibility of a death sentence. Inman was convicted of killing 25-year-old Summer Inman.

Authorities say she was abducted in Logan on March 22, 2011, and was strangled with a zip tie and dumped in an underground septic tank behind a church in nearby Athens County.

Summer Inman’s Husband, Father-In-Law Indicted For Murder

Prosecutors in Hocking County have unveiled murder indictments for the husband and father-in-law of a woman found strangled in a southern Ohio septic tank. Twenty-five-year-old Summer Inman went missing in late March after witnesses say she was abducted in downtown Logan. Investigators quickly turned to her estranged husband William Inman and his parents William and Sandra. Police say Sandra pointed them to Summer’s body, which was hidden inside a septic tank in a rural area near Nelsonville. The indictments announced Monday contain two counts of aggravated murder and one count each of murder, kidnapping, tampering with evidence and gross abuse of a corpse. Prosecutors have not released new indictments against Sandra Inman. She’s pleaded not guilty by reason of insanity to kidnapping and abduction charges.
