Teenage Girl Killed On Columbus Street
Columbus Police say a 14-year-old girl has been shot to death on a Franklinton street.
The shooting happened just before midnight Monday in the Franklintown neighborhood. Amanda Kirwin was in critical condition when officers found her, and she died later at a hospital.
Neighbor Lynie Collins who has a daughter the same age as Kirwin is shocked.
“It’s devastating because I couldn’t imagine losing my child. I feel so bad for her parents because she was in the wrong place at the wrong time. She didn’t deserve what happened to her, said Collins”
Police say Kirwin was talking with some friends in the street when the shots were fired and she was hit. A male was seen running from the scene.
It was the 62nd homicide in the city in 2014.
