2nd Inmate Charged With Aiding Ohio Jail Escape
Authorities say a convicted felon walked away from a southwest Ohio jail after assuming the identity of a second inmate now charged with helping him escape.
The Hamilton County sheriff says 20-year-old Chris Bowden was sentenced to 10 years in prison for aggravated robbery and was awaiting a court appearance on another charge. He says Bowden was released from the Hamilton County jail in Cincinnati on Tuesday night.
Authorities believe that Bowden assumed the identity of a suspected drug trafficker who had posted bond and that Bowden probably left the jail dressed in the clothing of that inmate, Darius Dabney.
Dabney has been charged with felony complicity to escape. His attorney did not immediately return a call for comment Thursday.
The escape and the jail’s procedures are under investigation.
