Columbus Firefighter Critical After Lightning Strike
Authorities say a Columbus firefighter remains in critical condition two days after he went into cardiac arrest when lightning struck outside a soccer stadium before an MLS game.
A spokeswoman for the Columbus Division of Fire says authorities believe the off-duty firefighter was struck Saturday while attending a charity event at Crew Stadium. The department said Lt. Stu Tudor was still listed in critical condition Monday.
The president of the local firefighters union told The Columbus Dispatch on Sunday that Tudor was in a medically induced coma as doctors worked to assess the extent of the 54-year-old firefighter’s injuries.
Saturday’s game between the Crew and FC Dallas was rescheduled for Sunday after the lightning strike. The game ended in a draw.
