Columbus Police say officers shot a man accused of threatening a Megabus driver with a weapon that was later found to be a pellet-like gun.

Columbus Police Sgt. Rich Weiner says a passenger also was injured by the police gunfire Monday morning. He says both men were treated and released from the hospital.

Police were called to the Megabus stop around 11 a.m. Monday by people who reported seeing a man carrying a gun onto the bus. Police say the 26-year-old man allegedly held an airsoft gun to the driver’s head and demanded the driver give him control of the bus.

Weiner said an arriving officer saw the man with the gun and fired multiple times, injuring the suspect and a passenger. Police have charged the man with robbery.
