Bucyrus city officials say the mayor of the Crawford County city died shortly after attending a city council meeting.

50-year-old Roger Moore died unexpectedly Tuesday night. Law Director Rob Ratliff expressed sadness over Moore’s death in an emailed press release. The cause wasn’t announced.

Moore was elected to the post in 2012 in the city of about 12,000 people, about 65 miles north of Columbus. He previously served on the city council for two terms before serving as council president from 2010 to 2011.

Current council president Sis Love will be sworn in as acting mayor on Wednesday.

Moore, a Bucyrus native, was a local Realtor, auctioneer and appraiser. Funeral plans haven’t been announced.
