Negative campaigning and mudslinging may be a fact of life in American politics, but can false accusations made in the heat of an election be punished as a crime?

That’s the focus of an Ohio case that goes before the U.S. Supreme Court this week. For a preview, WOSU’s Steve Brown spoke wtih Paul Beck, a long-time political scientist at Ohio State University.
