After two overflow public hearings, Columbus school leaders Monday changed their list of recommended school closings.

Independence High School on the far east side and Siebert Elementary were taken off the proposed closing list. Programs at 5th Avenue elementary would be relocated to the Hubbard Elementary building.

Brookhaven High School and three elementary schools remain on the proposed closing list.

The Columbus school board is expected to vote on the recommendations at its meeting Tuesday night. The meeting is scheduled for 5 p.m. at East High School.
