Former Buckeye Wins Gold In Sochi
There were some emotionally-divided hockey fans in Columbus yesterday.
On one hand, the U.S. women’s hockey team lost a heart-breaking overtime match against Canada and had to settle for silver.
But silver has a silver lining: a former Buckeye was taking home gold.
Former OSU forward Natalie Spooner was a First Team All-WCHA selection at OSU and is the program’s all-time leader in goals scored.
She graduated with a human nutrition degree in 2012.
Two of Spooner’s teammates at OSU, Emma Laaksonen Terho and Minttu Tuominen, played on the Finland team that failed to medal.
Former OSU men’s hockey player Ryan Kesler is playing for the U.S. team in Sochi.
