DSCC Employee Escape Furloughs Again
Thousands of federal employees in Central Ohio are still safe from furloughs, at least for now.
Andy Utz, the treasurer at the local American Federation of Government Employees office, says managers told employees this week operations at the Defense Supply Center, which has about 20 federal tenants, will continue through next week. Utz says managers are optimistic about funding through the end of the month.
Utz says operations are being funded by a reserve account funded by “surcharges” on parts sold out of DSCCC.
Some DSCC employees who had been furloughed returned to work with the passage of the Pay Our Military Act.
A DSCC spokesman said earlier this week that managers planned to start furloughing about 5,000 employees beginning Friday.
