Several hundred people gathered Tuesday night in east Columbus to protest a Missouri grand jury’s decision not to indict police officer Darren Wilson for shooting and killing Michael Brown in the St. Louis suburb of Ferguson.
Special COTA Buses Mulled For Columbus Hot Spots
COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) – The Central Ohio Transit Authority is developing a plan for special buses to carry riders among the hottest spots in downtown Columbus.
COTA envisions stops that include the trendy Arena District, the historic and picturesque German Village and the artsy Short North neighborhood.
Specially branded buses would run between those areas on a faster schedule than other bus lines at reduced fares or for free.
Agency officials say they’re targeting May 2014 as a possible launch date.
The agency is trying to appeal to both those who live or work downtown and to visitors who want to visit local landmarks but don’t want to figure out more-complex routes.
Similar routes have been used in Cleveland, Baltimore and Washington, D.C., among others.
