Four Deaths Now Blamed On Legionnaires’ Disease
Two more people have died from Legionnaires’ Disease at an east side retirement community. The Franklin County Public Health says number of fatalities at the Wesley Ridge Retirement Community has grown from two to four. Thirty five people have been infected by the vapor-borne bacteria.
The Centers for Disease Control along with the Franklin County and State Health Departments are trying to pinpoint the source of the disease which is known to be transmitted by water vapor.
Residents of Wesley Ridge continue to live in the facility. Residence officials say preliminary results from the CDC show legionella in the water system. They continue to await final test results.
