The quality of police training academies in Ohio and the need for stronger statewide training standards are among the issues an attorney general’s committee is considering as it explores possible changes to the way Ohio trains police officers.
Accused Murderer Arrested In California
Authorities say they have captured a man who’s been accused of causing fatal brain injuries to his girlfriend’s 10-month-old baby in Pickaway County.
The Pickaway County Sheriff’s Office said 44-year-old Wayne Martin Walker was arrested by U.S. marshals Sunday as he stepped off a Greyhound bus in Sacramento, Calif.
Deputies say Walker lived with the baby’s 24-year-old mother in Laurelville, south of Columbus. She called 911 early Wednesday to report that her infant son was unresponsive.
The child suffered injuries consistent with shaken-baby syndrome. He died at a Columbus hospital Thursday.
Walker is being held under a $1 million bond and will be brought back to Ohio to face a murder charge. Information about legal representation wasn’t available Monday.
