Shigella Cases Still Increasing In Columbus
Columbus health officials continue to struggle with a bacterial outbreak thatâ€™s sickened hundreds of children.
Columbus officials say they haven’t seen such a large number of Shigella cases in the past decade.
The Columbus Public Department of Health Commissioner says many of this yearâ€™s 770 cases are linked to childcare centers and locations where young children are in close contact.
Shigella bacteria cause an intestinal infection with flu-like symptoms. Itâ€™s especially contagious among children in diapers.
