Business Filings Up In Ohio
Listen to the Story
It looks like more businesses are starting to do business in Ohio. The Ohio Secretary of State’s office reports filings for new businesses are up.
Ohio Secretary of State Jon Husted’s office processes paperwork for individuals and companies who want to start a business in Ohio. He says 6,800 applications were filed to establish new businesses in Ohio last June. But this June, that number was over 7,300.
From January to June of last year, just under 44,000 new business filings were recorded statewide.
Nearly 47,000 were filed for the same six month period this year.
Secretary of State Husted says while these numbers can’t provide a complete picture of Ohio’s jobs climate, they are an important indicator of economic activity that Husted hopes will add to the discussion of how to improve the state’s overall climate for business.
