Teaching to the test is the only way for teachers to get a good evaluation. So subjects or documents not included on the test will NOT be emphasized, giving students a very limited view of our evolution as a nation.

History teachers may add the Bill of Rights, the Emancipation Proclamation and especially the Constitutional amendments, but the exams won’t cover them, apparently.

We haven’t known until recently just how government doesn’t work, so that has been a lesson. It is understandable why Kasich would not want to instruct about how Civil Rights and the Equal Rights Amendment advanced or didn’t advance as the case may be. Kasich does not believe in equal rights for women, of course. Why would he want children to be instructed in them.

Any history teacher worth his or her salt will add the Bill of Rights, Emancipation Proclamation and Constitutional amendments without the prompting of the Ohio Legislature. They will also teach how are government works, which so many people fail to understand.
