Jury Selection Begins In Somali Gang Case

More than a dozen people who are accused in a sex trafficking ring run by Somali gangs that reached from Minnesota into Ohio are facing trial in Nashville.

Jury selection is scheduled to begin Tuesday in the federal trial. According to the indictment, the defendants, many in their 20s and 30s, were members or associates of three gangs called the Somali Outlaws, the Somali Mafia and the Lady Outlaws who are accused of forcing teenage girls into prostitution and operated in Columbus, St. Paul Minneapolis, and Nashville.

The indictment says one girl was under the age of 13 at the time.
