All Columbus high-school students will be able to get unlimited free rides on COTA buses for at least one more year.

The school board on Tuesday unanimously approved a new one-year deal with COTA. The board had talked of ending its contract with COTA, which will increase nearly 50 percent this year to $894,000.

Ending the contract would have revoked passes for about 11,000 Columbus high school students beginning Saturday.
