Franklin County Sheriff Treated For Cancer

A longtime Franklin County law enforcement officer is undergoing cancer treatments. The Franklin county sheriff’s office has confirmed that Sheriff Jim Karnes is being treated for pancreatic cancer.
The 71 year old was first elected sheriff in 1992 and is the longest serving sheriff in county history.
Officials at Karnes’ office said he will continue on the job while undergoing treatment. Karnes has been with the sheriff’s office since 1963.
