Senate Bill Could Jeopardize Federal Transporation Funds

A Youngstown State University professor says the state may risk losing federal transportation funds if Senate Bill Five passes.

That’s the bill that would reduce the bargaining rights of public employees in Ohio.

Labor Studies professor John Russo tells WOSU’s Marilyn Smith special federal protections were passed years to protect the rights of private transportation workers when their companies came under government control.

The Kasich administration has said it’s looking into the federal protections for transit workers to determine whether senate bill five would jeopardize highway funds.
