95 percent of ancient Ohio was forested. But centuries ago there were also small regions of prairie. Tall grasses and wildflowers were part of the prairie ecology and so were bison. Researchers near Columbus are trying to reestablish a prairie / bison ecosystem.

Ohio’s cold, snowy winter has been a boon to at least one area ski resort. Snow Trails in Mansfield is seeing a significant spike this year. Skiing, snow boarding and tubing can be expensive.
At Snow Trails it can cost a family of four upwards of 250 dollars for one weekend day of skiing and equipment rentals. Still, Marketing Director Nate Wolleson says the cold and snow are welcome…
