Officials in Columbus and Dayton Dayton are aiming to capitalize on backlash against a religious-objections law in neighboring Indiana that critics say could permit discrimination against gays and lesbians.
A Second Student Dies After Struck By Vehicle
Listen to the Story
For the second time this week, a child has died after being struck by a vehicle on their way to school.
A Walnut Ridge High School student has died of his injuries after being struck by a vehicle Thursday morning. 16-year Gregg Lee died at 10:40 a.m. at Grant Medical Center.
Columbus Police Sergeant David Pelphrey said Lee was crossing East Livingston Avenue when the teen was struck.
“Mr. Lee was not in a marked crosswalk when the accident occurred,” Pelphrey said.
Police are not releasing the name of the driver. No charges have been filed. But Pelphrey said the investigation continues.
It’s unknown if visibility played a role in the accident. It was raining at the time Lee was struck.
Lee’s death follows the death of 10-year-old Cody Jewell who was struck by an SUV Tuesday as he crossed Scioto Darby Road. Jewell was a fifth grader at Ridgewood Elementary School in Hilliard.
