It’s the end of an era at Columbus Police headquarters. Chief James Jackson left the job for the last time. WOSU was there as fellow officers honored Jackson’s half century of service.
This year has brought lob losses, budget cuts and rising bills. And some people are finding it hard to be thankful. Last year, Ohio Public Radio’s Karen Kasler went to a Columbus food pantry just before Thanksgiving. She went back to find out how clients and volunteers are holding up going into the holiday season.
Earlier this year, amid a flurry of controversy, Governor Ted Strickland asked Ohio lottery officials to launch a new game, Keno. The governor said it could bring in enough extra profits to protect Ohio schools from spending cuts that were hitting other state programs. Now comes word that revenue predictions for Keno may have been too rosey, way too rosey.
