Ohio Governor and State GOP Spar Over Voter Registration Lawsuits

Listen to the Story

Governor Strickland is accusing Ohio Republicans of trying to scare newly registered voters by filing lawsuits on whether they’re eligible. The GOP disagrees.

At a news conference Monday, the Democratic governor also said the GOP is trying to distract voters from real issues.

Republicans have filed numerous legal challenges questioning the status of about 200,000 newly registered voters in Ohio, warning about the potential for voter fraud.

Strickland says Ohioans deserve better than what they’re getting from John McCain and the Republican Party.

The state GOP says voters are well-served by Republican efforts to ensure valid votes are not diluted by invalid votes.
