Listen to the Story

The Harding Memorial in Marion will receive extensive repair work.

Historic Site Manager Melinda Gilpin says maintenance will be done on the large stone and marble structure to make it water tight and to upgrade the electricity on site. The Tomb and walkway will also be cleaned.

Gilpin says the imposing structure is a tribute to how the nation viewed its 29th president after Warren G. Harding died in office of a heart attack in 1923.

Repairs on the Harding Memorial are scheduled to begin in the spring.
