The murder of 17-year-old Dennis Lewis last month disturbed many people. Lewis was a member of East High School’s marching band and the National Honor Society. But now an arrest has been made in his murder.

That was Derris Lewis three weeks ago singing at his twin brother’s funeral. Dennis was murdered while protecting their mother during a robbery January 18th. Now police say Derris was one of the men involved in the murder. After speaking with investigators Wednesday he was arrested on one count of aggravated murder, two counts of kidnapping and two counts of aggravated robbery. Columbus Police spokesperson, Amanda Ford, said various clues led police to the twin brother.

“The physical evidence that was found at the scene of the incidence. And some statements that were made after the incident took place,” Ford said.

Ford said police do not know at this time if Derris is the one who fired the gun that killed his brother. She says Derris was not living in the same house as his brother at the time of the murder. Police still think robbery is the motive, and are still trying to find out how many people were involved in the murder – robbery. Ford said she is not sure if Derris will be tried as an adult.
