A 24-year-old man has been sentenced to six years in prison after being convicted of attempted murder in the stabbing a central Ohio college class president while he slept in his fraternity house.
School report cards: good news and bad news

The state’s annual report card for Ohio schools is mostly positive, but figures show students are struggling with new science and social studies tests.
Test scores from last year are up in reading, writing and math.
State schools superintendent Susan Tave Zelman says for the second year in a row, 8 out of 10 districts are rated excellent or effective and no district is in the worst achievement category.
Zelman says the most pressing issue is the achievement gap between different races and abilities. There’s a 25-point gap between white and black children in the state.
Officials say they hope to implement new strategies for these children next year.
