In many cases cancer patients can not afford to take part in clinical trials. That’s because most insurance companies won’t cover the bills. Over the past decade about 20 states have passed laws requiring insurers to cover the costs. Tuesday, Ohio lawmakers unveiled a bill that would ensure clinical trial coverage for Ohioans.
Gov. Ted Strickland is threatening a veto if Ohio legislators move ahead with a plan to legalize betting on video-tape replays of old horse races from around the country.
Governor Strickland wants to stop cash payouts from the gaming machines popping up around the state. He’s asking the Legislature for a ban that also would prohibit non-cash prizes worth more than ten dollars.
