Governor Wants to Appeal Ruling on Smoking in Private Clubs
Gov. Strickland today asked the Attorney General to appeal a recent ruling on the private club exemption from the state ban on smoking.
Strickland says many veterans and other citizens voted for the smoking ban with the understanding that it included an exception for private clubs.
Franklin County Common Pleas Judge David Cain ruled one week ago that the state overstepped its authority when writing enforcement rules that exempted private clubs including VFW halls from the smoking ban.
